A Note From Our Executive Director

The United States has a versatile, expansive, and if leveraged, a powerful network of navigable waterways, extending internationally and throughout the globe as well. Given the complexities and benefits of the maritime industry to our nation’s economy, security, and environment, there is an immense challenge - but also an opportunity and inflection point at this moment in our nation’s history - of how to harness, support, and accelerate an energy transition well on its way, that can crowd in investment and benefit Americans here at home.

While maritime technologies can be slow to be adopted, accelerating an energy transition requires a strong and immediate commitment to innovation and deployment of new and emerging technologies. The proud legacy of the United States as a seafaring nation with maritime strength is being tested, and strategic political collaboration and policy expertise is also needed to align industry and community needs.

The Maritime Innovation Coalition is a nonpartisan coalition standing on the proposition of increasing federal attention on enabling conditions for maritime security, including boosting funding for maritime technologies and helping ports bunker and distribute fuels of the future. With these actions, we have the opportunity to shape the industry here in the United States to be a global leader. We are better together, and opportunity is at the helm.
